Executive Summary: Merit of Regular Chanting and Meditation

A case study from the Dream in Dream Kindergarten showcasing the limitless power of the “Merit of Bhavana” (Meditation). As the highest form of merit in Buddhism, it elevates the soul, provides divine protection from danger, and serves as the ultimate shortcut to Nirvana.

1. The Diligence of Mental Purification

During his lifetime, this man lived a simple layperson’s life but possessed immense dedication to Dhamma practice. He chanted morning and evening prayers every single day without fail, and strictly allocated time to practice meditation. He consistently brought his mind to a standstill at the center of his body (the 7th base). This diligence rendered his mind exceptionally pure, clear, and entirely free from worldly stress and anxiety.

2. The Blessings of Bhavana (Meditation) Merit

  • Attaining the Dhamma Sphere and Dhammakaya: As a result of his continuous meditation, he attained a brightly glowing Dhamma sphere and ultimately accessed the inner Dhammakaya. This granted him a profound, authentic, and lasting inner peace while still alive.
  • Celestial Wealth in Tusita Heaven: Upon passing away peacefully, his radiant inner body was immediately escorted to the Tusita Heaven (Special Merit Circle). He possesses a colossal golden mansion adorned with exquisite jewels. His personal aura is so intensely bright that it completely outshines all neighboring deities.
  • Brilliant Intellect and Divine Protection: Should he be reborn as a human, the merit of meditation ensures he will be a genius. He will possess sharp, brilliant intellect and learn things with astonishing speed. Furthermore, the immense merit current will protect him from all accidents and dangers (he will be constantly guarded by celestial beings).

3. Luang Por’s Teaching

Luang Por Dhammajayo frequently emphasizes that Charity (Dana), Morality (Sila), and Meditation (Bhavana) are the stairs to success, but “Bhavana” yields the absolute highest merit with the least physical investment. Simply by closing one’s eyes and bringing the mind to a standstill, one draws massive currents of pure merit into the center of the body. Anyone who truly loves themselves must never skip their daily chanting and meditation, for it is the most crucial spiritual provision for the journey through Samsara.
