⏱️ 2-Minute Dhamma (Ep. 1/10)
“If someone dumps garbage on your porch, your duty is not to carry it into your bed; it is to gently close the door.”
1. Seconds 0–30: The Daily Friction
Have you ever received an unprovoked, vitriolic text or overheard colleagues gossiping about you behind your back? Within seconds, adrenaline floods your veins, your chest tightens, and a burning desire to retaliate threatens to hijack your sanity.
2. Seconds 31–75: The Dharma Paradigm Shift
In ancient India, an aggressive critic showered the Buddha with vicious insults. The Buddha listened serenely and asked: ‘Friend, if a host offers gifts to visitors and they decline to accept, to whom do the gifts belong?’ The accuser replied: ‘To the host, of course.’ The Buddha smiled: ‘Likewise, you offer me abuse; I refuse to accept it. It remains entirely yours.’
3. Seconds 76–105: The 30-Second Micro-Action
For the next 30 seconds: Take one deep, conscious breath. Drop your shoulders. Whisper silently: ‘This belongs to the sender; my peace is sovereign.’ Anchor awareness at your 7th base of the mind, two finger-breadths above the navel, bathing in immaculate, untouchable stillness.
Seconds 106–120: Pocket Wisdom
“Unfair criticism is only a gift of garbage. If you refuse to accept delivery, it remains on the doorstep of the sender.”
Carry this stillness with you into your day. See you in the next episode.
