The Dhammakaya Master Day (Teachers’ Day of the Dhamma) honors Luang Pu Wat Paknam, Phra Mongkolthepmuni (Sodh Candasaro), the great teacher who rediscovered the Dhammakaya Meditation, or Vijja Dhammakaya, on 14 October 1917. It is one of the most important days at Wat Phra Dhammakaya.
When is Dhammakaya Master Day?
The full moon of the 10th lunar month (around September each year) commemorates the day Luang Pu Wat Paknam resolved to sit in meditation as a matter of life and death until he rediscovered the Dhammakaya knowledge for the world.

Why it matters
Luang Pu Wat Paknam (1884–1959) was the abbot of Wat Paknam Bhasicharoen, Bangkok, and is regarded by the Dhammakaya lineage as the founder of modern Dhammakaya meditation. His rediscovery of the inner holy Dhammakaya body has been passed down to the present, forming the meditation foundation of Wat Phra Dhammakaya.
