Executive Summary: Karma of Abandoning Family for Adultery

A case study from the Dream in Dream Kindergarten reinforcing the severe consequences of extreme irresponsibility and sexual misconduct (breaking the 3rd precept). Abandoning one’s spouse and children for selfish pleasure leads directly to absolute ruin in life and horrific punishment in hell.

1. Selfishness That Shattered a Family

In a past life, this man had a loving family. However, as he gained wealth, he met another woman and became completely blinded by lust. He callously abandoned his loyal wife and school-aged children without a second thought. He left his first wife to toil endlessly to feed their children, drowning in tears of betrayal and despair. This profoundly selfish act inflicted deep psychological trauma on his family, forging a massive and severe karmic debt regarding sexual misconduct.

2. The Retribution of Karma

  • A Lonely, Diseased End: In his current life, this karma dictated a tragic end. The woman he was so infatuated with eventually stripped him of all his wealth and abandoned him. He lived his final years in total isolation, uncared for, and suffered from a painful, incurable disease in his reproductive and urinary systems, dying in agony.
  • The 3rd Major Hell (Singala Naraka): Upon death, his inner body was instantly dragged into the 3rd Major Hell. Hell wardens forced him to climb the agonizing red-hot iron thorny silk-cotton tree. Whenever he fell, iron dogs and iron-beaked vultures would tear his flesh apart to punish his unbridled lust.
  • Rebirth as Animals and Prostitutes: After finally escaping the hell realms, the residual karma will force him to be reborn as a stray animal (like a dog or cat). When eventually reborn as a human, the karma will force him to be born as a woman in the sex trade, or as a wife who is chronically abused, betrayed, and abandoned by her husband—experiencing the exact emotional torture he once inflicted.

3. Spiritual Solutions

Luang Por Dhammajayo teaches that true love must be accompanied by responsibility. The 3rd precept exists to protect the peace and sanctity of the family unit. Anyone who has made this grave mistake must repent immediately, sever all illicit relationships, return to properly care for their family, and sincerely beg for their forgiveness (Ahosi Kamma). Furthermore, they must strictly observe the 5 precepts, practice meditation diligently, and generate massive merit to dilute this exceptionally dark karmic burden.
