2. The Retribution of Karma
- A Starving Preta Guarding the Temple: Upon death, his inner body was instantly transformed into a “Preta” (Hungry Ghost) with an emaciated body, a bloated stomach, hands the size of palm leaves, and a mouth as tiny as a needle’s eye. He is cursed to wander the temple grounds, fiercely guarding the wealth and the decaying pavilion he corruptly built. He suffers extreme, unquenchable hunger and thirst for entire Buddha eras, constantly seeing the wealth but entirely unable to consume or use it.
