Easy but Deep EP.7: Don’t be Tired / Indifferent in Every Experience

From the teaching of Luang Por Dhammajayo, Wat Phra Dhammakaya — “Easy but Deep” Series, Episode 7
Date of teaching: To be confirmed from YouTube video 5fqGRzEAUGM

In every life’s journey, we encounter various experiences — some are pleasant, some are challenging, and some may cause us to feel discouraged or hesitant. The Evil One (Mara) uses these moments to make us doubt our progress, to make us want to give up, or to make us indifferent toward our spiritual practice. But the Buddha’s teaching is clear: we must not yield to discouragement, nor be complacent in the face of pleasant experiences.

When the mind faces difficulty, we must remember to maintain our determination. When the mind faces success or comfort, we must remember to remain mindful and not become arrogant. The middle way is to remain steady, neither too tight nor too loose, in every situation.

The Seventh Base, the Position of the Knower : Stop Still at the Center of the Body, the Seventh Base, Then Believe with Reason

Luang Por Dhammajayo teaches that the center of the body, the Seventh Base, is the most important position in life — the only position that liberates us from defilements and suffering. Yet the Evil One conceals it from us. Cherish this position: train the mind to stop still, soft, light, and comfortable, clear and calm, supporting it with the recitation "Sammā Arahang" until the sphere of paṭhamamagga arises. Then believe with reason and principle that we must get, must see, must be.

Destroy the Graveyard of Fear : Uproot All Fear, Then Believe with Reason

Luang Por Dhammajayo teaches us to dig out the roots of fear entirely — the fear that we will not see, cannot do it, do not know how — which is buried in our hearts as a graveyard of fear. Destroy the wall of fear and let it collapse, then believe with reason and principle that we must get, must see, must be. Recite the mantra of success: "Even though it is dark and murky, we still have the right to attain the Dhamma."

Luang Pu Dhammachayo teaches that the reason meditation isn't working is because we tense up without realizing it — pressing our eyeballs, squeezing eyelids, forcing images. Adjust your method correctly and it becomes easy.

Luang Pu Dhammachayo teaches how to place the mind gently in meditation — as if we are the center of the universe. Soft like cotton, light as a feather, mind clear like a diamond. No tension, no forcing.
