1. The Hellfire of Lust and Betrayal
Trust and fidelity are the foundations of a happy family. However, when individuals allow themselves to be consumed by lust and violate the Third Precept (Kamesu Micchacara)—by engaging in extramarital affairs, visiting prostitutes, or keeping secret lovers—ruin swiftly follows.
Infidelity does more than break a marriage; it inflicts profound psychological trauma on the spouse and children. The tears of betrayal, the shattered trust, and the deep-seated resentment of the wronged party generate a violent karmic backlash of “separation and betrayal” that will relentlessly hunt down the adulterer.
2. The Karmic Backlash of Promiscuity
Those who habitually violate the Third Precept face a terrifying path of retribution:
- Failed Relationships and Venereal Diseases: In their current life, they will often face brutal betrayals from their own lovers. Their wealth will be depleted by their lust, and they are at extremely high risk of contracting incurable or fatal sexually transmitted diseases (like HIV or Syphilis).
- The Third Major Hell (Simbali Naraka): Upon death, the astral body is dragged into the 3rd Major Hell. Here, they are forced to climb the infamous “Simbali” (Cotton Silk) trees. These trees are enormous, covered in red-hot, razor-sharp iron thorns. Demonic dogs and giant vultures tear at their flesh from below, while hell-wardens stab them with spears to force them up the burning thorns, screaming in agony for eons.
- Gender Dysphoria and Exploitation: After escaping hell, they must undergo countless rebirths as animals. When finally reborn as humans, the residual karma often manifests as gender dysphoria or complex sexual identity struggles, leading to chronic heartbreak. Others are born into circumstances where they are forced into prostitution, stripped of their dignity.

The Buddha explicitly warned that obsession with sensual pleasures and infidelity leads directly to a person’s downfall:

- Immediate Severance (Cold Turkey): Completely and immediately sever all illicit relationships. Return to your family and vow absolute fidelity to your spouse for the rest of your life.
- Sincere Restitution: Apologize from the bottom of your heart to the spouse you betrayed, and dedicate your life to rebuilding a warm, secure family environment to compensate for the pain caused.
- Observe the 8 Precepts: Regularly observe the Eight Precepts (which requires absolute celibacy) on Buddhist Holy Days. This acts as a powerful counter-force to lust. Practice deep meditation to cleanse the mind and dedicate the merit to dilute the dark karma of infidelity.
