Executive Summary: Karma of Forcing Slave Labor and Withholding Wages

1. The Robbery of Sweat and Blood
In a past life, this man was a wealthy and powerful employer with a deeply ruthless heart. He forced his laborers to work far beyond physical human limits, with absolutely zero days off. Worse, he habitually fabricated excuses to dock their pay, completely withhold their wages, or refuse to pay the agreed-upon amounts. He left his workers to starve, plunging them into desperate suffering and deep resentment. Stealing the sweat and labor of helpless workers is a form of theft (Adinnadana) heavily laced with extreme sadism.
2. The Retribution of Karma
- Reborn as a Beast of Burden (Ox/Horse): Upon death, the residual karma magnetically forces him into the animal realm, specifically as a beast of burden like an ox, water buffalo, or cart horse. He will be forced to work grueling hours from dawn to dusk, brutally whipped whenever he collapses from exhaustion. Ultimately, he will be sent to the slaughterhouse—a direct repayment for exploiting others.
- Worked to the Bone but Utterly Destitute: Once he escapes the animal realm and is reborn as a human, the karma crushes him into the absolute poorest of families. He will be forced to work back-breaking, exhausting labor (mirroring his time as a beast), yet his employers will constantly cheat him, withhold his wages, or sudden disasters will steal his money. He will never, ever experience comfort.
- The 3rd Major Hell (Sanghata Naraka): If he dies with a darkened, stingy mind, his inner body will plunge into the 3rd Major Hell. Hell wardens will violently force him to carry colossal, red-hot iron boulders up a volcanic mountain. If he slows down, he will be mercilessly whipped with flaming iron lashes, enduring this agony for eons.
3. Spiritual Solutions
Luang Por Dhammajayo teaches that a worker’s sweat represents the very lifeblood and survival of their family. Exploiting or withholding wages creates a catastrophic karmic debt. Wealth amassed through oppression becomes hellfire that burns the perpetrator’s life to the ground. Anyone who has committed this error must immediately track down their workers and compensate them in full, with interest, begging for sincere forgiveness. They must adopt the Four Divine States of Mind (Brahmavihara), heavily sponsor Sanghadana, and actively release large animals (like saving cattle from the slaughterhouse) to obliterate the karmic chains of oppression.
