1. A Thief in Disguise
In a past life, this man desperately craved fame and success but was inherently lazy. He systematically resorted to “plagiarism,” stealing the brilliant projects and ideas that his colleagues had spent sleepless nights developing, and shamelessly presenting them to the boss as his own original work. Furthermore, he aggressively stole competitors’ trade secrets and illegally copied their products to undercut their prices. Stealing Intellectual Property and robbing others of their rightful credit is a severe form of theft (Adinnadana) that violently destroys the victims’ morale and generates intense karmic resentment.
2. The Retribution of Karma
- Born Untalented and Dull-Minded: In his current life, this karma ensures he is born with a remarkably dull mind, entirely devoid of creativity or natural talent. Whenever he attempts to brainstorm, innovate, or create something original, his mind goes completely blank. This mental stagnation is the direct karmic penalty for exploiting the intellect of others.
- Chronically Robbed of Credit: The karmic energy magnetically forces him to become the victim of exactly what he perpetrated. If he ever manages to accomplish a difficult task, a colleague or superior will effortlessly swoop in, steal the project, and take 100% of the credit. He will never, ever receive public recognition or praise for his hard work.
- Business Collapse and Bankruptcy: If he attempts to launch a business, his ideas will be instantly copied and heavily undercut by competitors, driving him into the ground. Alternatively, his business partners will completely embezzle his funds and violently hijack his company (Vibati Sombat), leaving him utterly bankrupt and unable to recover for his entire life.
3. Spiritual Solutions
Luang Por Dhammajayo teaches that intellectual property is born from intense sweat and wisdom. Stealing someone else’s ideas permanently blocks the thief’s own intellectual growth in future lifetimes. Anyone who has committed this fraud must stop immediately. They must proactively and publicly give full credit and praise to the true creators. To generate new Wisdom Perfections (Panna Parami), they must heavily donate to educational causes, sponsor textbooks, and freely share their own knowledge with others (Vidyadana). They must strictly observe the 2nd precept (non-stealing) to break the karmic curse of being endlessly cheated.
