The heart of meditation is learning to steady the mind and see things as they are, not chasing a peaceful feeling. When we stay with the natural breath in a balanced way, concentration can gradually become stable.
Intend to Know This Moment
Before beginning, know that you are sitting. Temporarily put down expectations about results.
Know the Natural Breath
Do not force the rhythm. Choose a place where the breath is clear and stay with that sensation continuously.
Return Gently When Attention Wanders
Returning without anger toward yourself matters more than trying to prevent distraction. Returning builds continuity of mindfulness.
Know Calm When It Comes, and Know When It Does Not
Do not turn calm into another object of craving. If calm is present, know calm. If restlessness is present, know restlessness without adding more desire.
What You Can Do Today
- Sit comfortably and stay alert.
- Know the breath for 10–15 minutes.
- Notice thoughts without following them.
- End the sitting by slowly noticing the body.
One Good Thing Today
You do not have to become skilled at meditation. Simply make awareness a little clearer.
Come Back Tomorrow
Meditation is not a race toward a special experience. It is training to remain present with mindfulness and understanding.
