Easy but Deep 2 EP.108: Before Speaking, Give the Mind One Breath of Space

Share post:

A few words can encourage someone or leave a wound. Pausing for one mindful breath before speaking does not make us slow; it gives our words a chance to come from awareness rather than emotion.

What One Breath Can Change

When emotion is strong, the mind wants to respond immediately. One conscious breath creates a small space between feeling and reaction. That small space can be valuable.

Speak Truth Without Causing Unnecessary Harm

We do not have to suppress everything. We can choose words that are honest and clear without adding unnecessary pain.

A Dhamma Perspective

Right speech begins with wholesome intention and mindfulness. Before speaking, ask: Is it true? Is it beneficial? Is this the right time?

What You Can Do Today

  • When anger rises, take one slow breath.
  • Listen fully before responding.
  • Reduce sarcasm and harsh judgment.
  • Choose words that help the situation improve.

One Good Thing Today

Let one mindful breath become the doorway between emotion and speech.

Come Back Tomorrow

We may not control other people’s words, but we can practice caring for our own words one sentence at a time.
