Easy but Deep 2 EP.421: Before Meditation, Set Aside What You Need to Solve

Date:

Share post:

Sometimes the mind wanders not because we do not know how to meditate, but because it is still trying to solve everything. A good beginning is not forcing thought to stop. It is setting unsolved matters aside for a while and returning to the body and breath.

Accept That the Mind Still Has Things to Do

You do not need an empty mind before sitting. Know that worries, unfinished work, or thoughts are present, and practice from there.

Separate Thinking Time From Knowing Time

During meditation, you do not need to analyze every problem. When a thought arises, know “thinking” and return to the breath.

Setting Something Aside Is Not Avoiding It

You can return to the problem after meditation. Temporarily setting it aside means not allowing it to pull the mind away every moment.

Give the Mind One Place to Rest

Choose a suitable meditation object, such as the natural breath, and stay with it. When attention wanders, return.

What You Can Do Today

  • Briefly write down important tasks before sitting if needed.
  • Sit for 10–15 minutes.
  • Know the natural breath.
  • When thoughts arise, notice them and return.

One Good Thing Today

We do not have to solve everything every minute. Some minutes are for training the mind to let go.

Come Back Tomorrow

As the mind learns to set things down more often, meditation becomes not an escape from life but training to return mindfully to what we are doing.
