A 10-Minute Mindfulness Practice Before You Start Your Day

Before the day begins, the mind may already be carrying yesterday’s worries. Ten minutes of mindful attention can create a different starting point.

Minutes 1–2: Sit and Breathe

Let the body become still. Follow the natural breath without trying to make it perfect.

Minutes 3–5: Notice the Mind

Watch thoughts about work, people, and plans appear. Label them gently as thinking, then return to the breath.

Minutes 6–8: Set an Intention

Choose one quality for the day: patience, honesty, kindness, or careful attention. This is more useful than demanding a perfect day.

Minutes 9–10: Begin Deliberately

Ask what the first wise action should be. Then begin it without rushing.

Why This Helps

Mindfulness does not guarantee a calm day. It gives you a chance to meet the day with greater awareness instead of automatic reaction.
