Easy but Deep 2 EP.105: Do Good Without Waiting to Be Seen

Some good deeds receive no applause, no recognition, and sometimes not even a thank-you. That does not make them meaningless.

Doing what is right even when no one sees is a way of training the mind to choose goodness because it recognizes its value.

The Value of Goodness Does Not Depend on Other People’s Eyes

If we do good only for praise, our motivation may disappear when praise disappears. When we do good because it is worth doing, the mind becomes steadier.

A Dhamma Perspective: Create Good Causes Without Clinging to Reward

We can choose our actions even though we cannot control how others see us. Goodness practiced without needing approval gradually trains us to loosen attachment.

What You Can Do Today

  • Help someone without announcing it.
  • Complete your responsibility even when no one is checking.
  • Offer kind words without expecting anything back.
  • Do good and allow the result to follow its causes and conditions.

One Good Thing Today

Do one good thing that no one needs to know about, and notice how the mind feels when it does not have to wait for praise.

Come Back Tomorrow

When goodness does not need to be seen, the mind gradually learns that goodness has value because it creates better causes and helps us become better people.
