Easy but Deep 2 | EP.33 | Don’t Wait for a Good Day to Practice
Meditation practice is not only for the days when the mind feels peaceful, motivated, or ready. A restless day, a tiring day, or a day when we do not feel like sitting can also become part of the practice.
You Can Begin Even When the Mind Is Not Ready
We do not have to defeat restlessness before we can meditate. Simply recognize how the mind is today, then gently return to the practice without blaming ourselves. Each return is itself a moment of practice.
Do Not Make Special Experiences the Goal
A good practice does not require a special vision, inner experience, or unusual feeling every time. Some days we simply sit consistently. Some days the mind settles only a little. Some days we notice distraction sooner. These small changes have value.
Give more importance to consistency and gentleness than to chasing experiences.
Keep the Practice Simple on Busy Days
Sit comfortably, relax the eyes, and do not force the breath. Then gently bring the mind to the meditation object you normally use. When the mind wanders, simply return.
Instead of repeatedly asking whether today’s meditation was successful, ask only whether we returned to the practice.
Progress Can Be Quieter Than We Expect
Progress does not always appear as an exciting experience. Sometimes it appears as becoming calmer, reacting less quickly, pausing before speaking, and returning to peace more easily after being disturbed.
Conclusion
Do not wait for a perfect day before you practice. Practicing on imperfect days teaches us how to care for and steady the mind in real life. Even a short period of practice can be valuable. Sit comfortably, relax gently, and begin again as many times as needed without blaming yourself.
