Easy but Deep 2 | EP.36 | Set Worries Down and Return Within

Before meditation, the mind may be carrying many unfinished stories from the past and concerns about the future. If we continue thinking about them while practicing, the mind has little room to become light.

Setting worries down for a while does not mean rejecting responsibility. It means giving the mind a period of rest from outside concerns.

As the mind becomes cleaner and lighter, gently bring attention back within. Let meditation become a time to return to ourselves.

Inner happiness does not begin when everything is complete. It begins when the mind learns to put down what does not need to be carried right now.

Separate Action From Rumination

If a worry requires action, note the next useful step. Repeating the same thought without acting does not necessarily solve the problem. During meditation, allow that unfinished matter to wait for its proper time.

Return to the Present

When the mind goes back to yesterday or ahead to tomorrow, gently notice it and return to the present practice. There is no need to fight the thought or follow it.

A Short Practice for Today

Give yourself five to ten quiet minutes. Set down unnecessary mental commentary, breathe naturally, and return to the practice. Afterward, resume your responsibilities with a clearer mind.
