Easy but Deep 2 | EP.50 | The Arhat Dhammakaya: The Goal of Life

When considering the purpose of meditation, this episode looks beyond temporary calm and points toward the highest goal described in the Dhammakaya tradition: realizing the Arhat Dhammakaya as an expression of purity and freedom from defilements.

Peace is not the final destination

Meditation can make the mind peaceful, light, and joyful. Yet each peaceful experience can also become a foundation for deeper practice rather than an endpoint. The aim is to refine and purify the mind further.

The Arhat Dhammakaya as the goal

Within the framework of this teaching series, the Arhat Dhammakaya is presented as the highest level in the progression of Dhammakaya realization. It represents purity and a form of happiness not dependent on external possessions. The teaching therefore directs attention toward the quality of the mind rather than worldly status.

With a clear inner goal, ordinary life can be put into proper perspective. Work and material resources remain necessary, but they should not cause us to forget the responsibility to cultivate the mind.

Travel through stillness

The practical approach is to continue developing stillness without force, hurry, or attachment to passing experiences. As the mind becomes more refined, our understanding of life’s purpose can also become clearer.

  • Recognize inner purity as a central purpose of practice.
  • Do not become attached to temporary pleasure or imagery.
  • Practice consistently while you still have the strength and opportunity.
  • Fulfill worldly duties while continuing to cultivate virtue and meditation.

EP.50 closes this sequence with a question worth carrying into daily life: What are we living for, and are our daily choices bringing us closer to the inner goal or pulling us away from it?
