EP.11 : The Grace of the Great Master Who Subdued Mara
Luang Por teaches that we can feel the grace of the Great Master who subdued Mara by recollecting his image and keeping it at the centre of our body, which is a great thing because it leads our mind to stop still in the correct position. The Supreme Buddha, every Arahant, and the Venerable Great Master all stop still right here. When we go and stop at the same point where they stop, and where the wise have stopped, it is considered a great thing, a noble success in life, greater than receiving wealth, status, or praise.
When we arrive in the same position as them, we come to know them more and more, and grow ever deeper in gratitude toward them. Understanding them more deeply through stopping still, we come to understand the saying “stopping is success,” which connects to the Buddha’s teaching that the mind is the element of success — all things succeed through the mind, the mind reaches first, the mind is foremost.
