Easy but Deep 2 EP.102: You Do Not Have to Get Better Quickly, Just Keep Caring for the Mind

Share post:

When the mind is not where we want it to be, we often want to become strong again as quickly as possible. But the mind does not change on command. Some healing needs time.

If today is not much better, that is okay. What matters is that we do not abandon ourselves.

Some Progress Cannot Be Seen

Responding less quickly from emotion or returning to awareness sooner is progress, even when no one else notices it.

A Dhamma Perspective: Practice Without Forcing the Result

We can create causes, but we cannot force results. Practice means creating good causes consistently and allowing results to unfold according to conditions.

What You Can Do Today

  • Accept the present state of the mind without judgment.
  • Do one small good thing.
  • Return to the breath when the mind becomes restless.
  • Give change the time it needs.

One Good Thing Today

Instead of asking, “Am I better yet?” ask, “Did I care for my mind a little better today?”

Come Back Tomorrow

Caring for the mind is not a competition. Gentle consistency may take us farther than forcing ourselves to hurry.
