Easy but Deep 2 EP.104: You Do Not Have to Win Against Every Thought

Share post:

Sometimes the mind fills with thoughts we do not like, and we become exhausted trying to push them away.

A thought can arise without becoming an instruction. We can simply know that it is there and choose our own action.

Thoughts Are Not the Whole of Who We Are

Today may contain anger, fear, or worry. When we do not immediately believe every thought, the mind has more space to choose.

A Dhamma Perspective: Know It and Let It Pass

Mindfulness does not mean having no thoughts. It means seeing thoughts without being carried away by them, then returning to what we are doing.

What You Can Do Today

  • Give the thought a simple name, such as “worry” or “anger.”
  • Do not argue with it.
  • Return to the breath or the sensations of the body.
  • Choose an action aligned with what is good.

One Good Thing Today

When an unwanted thought appears, tell yourself, “This is a thought, not an instruction,” and return to the task in front of you.

Come Back Tomorrow

We do not have to win against every thought. It is already progress when we stop every thought from choosing our life for us.
