There are seasons of life when we do not need a grand answer. We simply want to know what to do next.
When the mind is tired, uncertainty can make every direction look dark. We may feel that we must see the whole path before we are allowed to take the first step.
Not Seeing the Far Road Does Not Mean There Is No Road
In a Dhamma perspective, we can learn to meet what is actually here with awareness. We do not have to force ourselves to know the whole future. The future is shaped, in part, by the causes and choices we are making today.
Return to What You Can Actually Do
You may not know whether you will find the right work, rebuild your life, or understand where a relationship is going. But you can choose a next step that does not harm yourself and does not add unnecessary harm to others.
Rest. Call someone you trust. Clear one small space. Read one page. Finish one task. Help someone in a small way. These actions may look ordinary, but they bring the mind back from imagined futures to the reality of this moment.
One Good Thing Today
Choose one small thing that can make today a little better, and do it without waiting for your whole life to become clear.
Come Back Tomorrow
You do not have to see the destination today. Take good care of the next step, then come back and look again tomorrow.
