Easy but Deep 2 | EP.72 | Thoughts May Arise, but We Do Not Have to Follow Them

Share post:

During practice, many thoughts may arise. Having thoughts does not mean we are practicing incorrectly. What matters is whether we notice them and whether we can choose to return to what we are practicing.

Thoughts Are Something That Arises

When a thought appears, there is no need to push it away or analyze every detail. Simply recognize that thinking is happening, then allow the thought to pass naturally.

Neither Follow Nor Resist

If we follow a thought, attention can become absorbed in its story. If we resist it, the mind can become tense. A balanced approach is to notice, let go, and return comfortably to practice.

Awareness Creates Space

When we do not have to act on every thought, the mind has more room for calmness. We begin to see thoughts as experiences that arise, rather than commands that must always be believed or followed.

Practical Reminders

  • Accept that thoughts can arise.
  • Notice them without analyzing everything.
  • Neither follow nor resist them.
  • Return to practice with comfort.

Training the mind is not about eliminating thought. It is about learning not to be carried away by every thought. As we notice and release more often, the mind gradually becomes freer and calmer.
