Easy but Deep 2 EP.103: When the Mind Is Restless, Do Not Make Big Decisions Yet

Date:

Share post:

When emotions are intense, the mind can make small things feel enormous and make us want to decide quickly just to end the discomfort.

Giving the mind some space before deciding may help us see choices that are invisible while we are overwhelmed.

Pausing Emotion Is Not Avoiding the Problem

The problem remains, but we do not have to solve it while anger, fear, or anxiety is dominating the mind.

A Dhamma Perspective: Let Awareness Lead Emotion

When emotion becomes strong, pausing to know the body, the breath, and the thoughts arising creates space for wisdom to work.

What You Can Do Today

  • Delay unnecessary major decisions.
  • Breathe slowly and return to awareness.
  • Write down facts separately from feelings.
  • Decide when the mind has become more balanced.

One Good Thing Today

If something is making you angry or anxious, give yourself time before replying or deciding, even if only for a few minutes.

Come Back Tomorrow

Sometimes the best thing we can do is not find an answer immediately, but make the mind ready enough to see one.
