When Life Seems to Be Moving Faster for Everyone Else
There are seasons when we look around and feel that everyone has moved ahead. Someone has built a career, another has started a family, another has found a new direction, while we are still trying to understand our own life.
That feeling can be painful, but it does not mean that our life is late. People carry different conditions, responsibilities, losses, opportunities, and unseen struggles.
A Buddhist Way to Look at the Present
Mindfulness helps us notice comparison as it happens. We can see the thought “I am behind” without immediately turning it into “I am not good enough.” Once the thought is seen clearly, we can return to causes: What can I cultivate today?
Practice is not a race. It is learning to make wiser causes in the moment we actually have.
Three Small Steps
- Take a break from comparing your life with someone else’s life.
- Choose one meaningful task and give it a small amount of honest attention.
- Before sleeping, remember one wholesome thing you did today.
One Good Thing Today
Do one small thing that makes life a little better: call someone you care about, clean one corner, finish fifteen minutes of an unfinished task, or say thank you sincerely.
You do not need to catch up with everyone. You only need to stop abandoning your own life.
Come Back Tomorrow
If the path is still unclear tonight, that is okay. Rest and return tomorrow. A good home does not rush someone who is tired, and your life does not need to rush you either.
