Let inner stillness become the foundation for refinement
Meditation does not end when the mind becomes calm. Stillness can become the foundation for developing greater inner refinement. The key is not to rush or manipulate the experience, but to let greater subtlety arise from ease and stability.
As the mind becomes quieter, preserve the feeling of comfort. Do not worry about what should appear or what stage you should reach. Any adjustment should be natural, balanced, and free from force.
The heart of the practice
- Stillness comes before refinement.
- Do not let desire drive the practice.
- Repeat the practice comfortably until it becomes familiar.
Real progress is not measured by exciting experiences, but by increasing calmness, stability, and subtlety of mind.
